Paris Hilton was born in New York City. She is the oldest of Kenneth and Kathy Hilton's four children, in addition to be an heir to the family's hotel chain, which was founded by her great-grandfather, Conrad Hilton.
Hilton spent most of her childhood living at her family’s exclusive homes in New York and Los Angeles. Her freshman year of high school was spent at the Marywood-Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage, Calif. , followed by the Dwight School in New York for her sophomore and junior years. She then transferred to the Canterbury School in New Milford, Conn., where she was a member of the hockey team. Hilton would later drop out and ultimately earned her high school GED.
While she mingled with celebrities since birth and worked as a model, Hilton didn't become "famous" until her ex-boyfriend, Rick Salomon, released their sex tape, "One Night in Paris," onto the Internet in 2003. By the end of the year, Hilton would receive notoriety of a different nature as "The Simple Life," her reality series co-starring best pal Nicole Richie, debuted on Dec. 2, 2003. The Fox show, which aired for three seasons, would propel Hilton further into the public spotlight and establish her as a tabloid magnet.
In addition to her television and film work, the entrepreneur Hilton has also launched ventures in such areas as music and fashion.
