HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Authorities in Mississippi have arrested a celebrity photographer who is accused of stalking Jamie Lynn Spears and her fiancè Casey Aldridge, the Associated Press reports.
Edwin W. Merino, 30, of Los Angeles was arrested at a gas station in the small town of Liberty. He told authorities that he had been following the pregnant Spears and her beau for the past four days.
“I just think since I was the only one there, it was just easier for them to single me out,” Merino told the Associated Press.
Merino has been a member of the paparazzi for five years and is known as one of the snappers who captured Jamie Lynn Spears’ older sister, Britney, sans underwear.
The younger Spears sibling has been an intense paparazzi focus ever since she announced that she was expecting in December. The 17-year-old “Zoey 101” star is thought to be due any day now.
Merino is due in court next week and says the trip to the small town near the Louisiana border was mostly a waste of time.
“The one picture I got was kind of by luck,” he said. “I got lucky when I saw them at Wal-Mart when I was buying deodorant.”
