NASHVILLE, Tenn. — FBI spokesman George Bolds has dismissed earlier broadcast reports that a teen arrested for plotting to hijack a plane was planning to crash the aircraft into a “Hannah Montana” concert.
While the FBI said they had no information that the concert was a target, two CNN television affiliates in Nashville, Tenn., WSMV and WTVF, reported the teen wanted to crash the jetliner into the concert scheduled for Friday night at the Lafayette Cajundome, according to sources.
The hit Disney TV series “Hannah Montana” focuses on Miley Stewart, (played by Miley Cyrus), who lives a double life as an average teenage girl at school during the day, and a famous pop singer (Hannah Montana) at night. The “Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Best of Both Worlds Tour” has been a hot-selling event in recent months.
On Tuesday night, the 16-year-old California boy was removed from Southwest Airlines Flight 284, which originated in Los Angeles, by authorities at Nashville International Airport. He was found with “suspicious” items, including handcuffs, rope and duct tape in his bag.
“His plan had a low probability of success,” Bolds said.
