Plans for the blowout 50th-anniversary awards ceremony are back in full swing after the Writers Guild of America announced that it will not picket the show.
With the road now paved for the stars to attend, the rumor mill may pick up even further. Many have speculated that Britney Spears could be among the performers, thanks to her recent drop-ins to the Millennium Dance Studio in North Hollywood.
Knowles rose to fame as the creative force and lead singer of the R&B group Destiny’s Child, the best-selling female group of all time. She has also achieved success as a solo artist — her “Irreplaceable” single is a nominee for Record of the Year at this year’s Grammys. As a solo artist and Destiny’s Child combined, Knowles has a total of 10 Grammy Awards to her name.
In 2005, the 26-year-old Knowles performed Turner’s signature hit, “Proud Mary,” during a Kennedy Center tribute.
The Grammy Awards will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
