ASPEN, Colo. — Actor Charlie Sheen was arrested Friday morning on domestic violence charges during a holiday getaway in Colorado, the Associated Press reports.

The Two and a Half Men star was booked for second-degree assault and menacing, both felonies, along with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

Sheen, 44, allegedly got into scuffle with his wife, Brooke Mueller, at a house located in the ski resort town of Aspen. He was taken into custody after a 911 call was placed from the home.

The actor was released several hours later after posting $8,500 bond.

Sheen’s attorney, Richard Cummins, cautioned against any rush to judgment.

“I think at the end of the day it will be much ado about nothing,” he told AP. “I don’t think there’s any criminality about what went on.”

Sheen’s rep also downplayed the Christmas Day incident.

“Do not be mislead by appearance. Appearance and reality can be as different as night and day,” he said. “It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion.”

Sheen and Mueller tied the knot in May 2008 at a private estate in Los Angeles.  The couple welcomed their first children, twin boys, in March.

Sheen also has two daughters, Sam, 5, and Lola, 4, with ex-wife Denise Richards, and a 25-year-old daughter, Cassandra, with his former girlfriend Paula Profitt.
