LOS ANGELES — Charlie Sheen and his wife Brooke Mueller plan to seek counseling after a domestic dispute led to the actor’s arrest on Christmas Day.
“Charlie went right back to Los Angeles after he was released from jail,” a source tells People. “Both he and Brooke will undergo counseling and Charlie will get anger management counseling.”
Sheen, 44, and Mueller, 32, got into a heated argument while staying in the ski resort town of Aspen with their twin boys, who were born in March. The Two and a Half Men star was booked for second-degree assault and menacing, both felonies, along with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, after police received a 911 call from the home.
“They were fighting at a dinner in a friend’s house and it continued until the next morning,” a source close to Mueller told People of the incident. “Both of them were drinking and neither was supposed to be. They both have histories of alcohol abuse and have made every effort to stop. But things got out of hand.”
Sheen’s Colorado-based attorney, Richard Cummins, said the couple is committed to working out their differences.
“They have two children together and they love one another and the’re going to work through what is a difficult time and they’re going to do that together and as privately as possible,” his lawyer told the mag.
Sheen and Mueller tied the knot in May 2008 at a private estate in Los Angeles.
