ORLANDO, Fla. — Tiger Woods will break his silence Friday, but under his terms.

In a statement posted Wednesday on his official Web site, the embattled 34-year-old golfer said he would speak to a “small group of friends, colleagues and close associates” at 11 a.m. EST at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Woods, however, will not be taking questions.

“Tiger plans to discuss his past and his future, and he plans to apologize for his behavior,” read the announcement. “While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between him and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him. He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends, and that’s what he’s going to discuss.”

Woods has been under the microscope ever since a single-car accident outside his Florida home on Nov. 27. The accident came shortly after the National Enquirer published a story alleging that he was having an affair with Rachel Uchitel, a New York nightclub manager. After the first affair allegation, several more women stepped forward claiming to have engaged in sexual trysts with Woods, including former VH1 Tool Academy contestant Jaimee Grubbs and porn star Holly Sampson.

Woods later admitted to cheating on his wife, while also announcing plans to put his golf career on an indefinite hold in order to focus on his family.

“I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children,” he said in December. “I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I’ve done, but I want to do my best to try.”

Earlier today, Wood surfaced for the first time publicly since the November accident. The PGA star was photographed jogging near his Florida home. He reportedly check out of a Mississippi sex rehab clinic on Feb. 5.
