LOS ANGELES — Charlie Sheen will agree to a 30-day jail sentence as part of a plea deal with prosecutors over his domestic violence arrest on Christmas Day in Aspen, a source tells People.
"Charlie intends to go to court on June 7 [to] plead to a misdemeanor and immediately begin serving his 30 days in jail," the insider said Tuesday. "With good behavior, he could end up doing 15 or so days."
Last week, prosecutor Arnold Mordkin told The Aspen Times that the two sides had been moving closer to reaching a deal. That resulted in a new court date being set for June 7 (Sheen was originally ordered to appear next in court on June 18 for a motions hearing).
"The [June 7] setting was made in contemplation of a final disposition being made that’s acceptable to the district attorney’s office," Sheen’s defense attorney, Richard Cummins, told the paper.
Sheen, 44, has pleaded not guilty to menacing, criminal mischief and assault charges stemming from the incident, in which he allegedly held a knife to wife Brooke Mueller’s throat during a holiday getaway. His trial is scheduled to begin on July 21. If convicted, he could serve one to three years in prison.
Mueller and Sheen, who tied the knot in May 2008, welcomed their first children, twin boys, last year.
