When it comes to etiquette, manners and overall good behavior, even celebrities need help navigating the rough waters of stardom! It’s a good thing Countess LuAnn de Lesseps of The Real Housewives of New York is joining forces with OK! to school them on the right thing to do! In a rough situation, we just ask, “What Would the Countess Do?” This week the Countess chimes in on first date etiquette and fighting with your significant other in public.
First date etiquette — these days, is it still old-fashioned to think the man should pay on a first date? Should a woman offer to pay any part? What if SHE asked HIM out, what then?
When it comes to a first date, the person who initiated the date should offer to pay regardless of gender. While going “Dutch” is fine with your friends, it’s traditional (and romantic) for the man to pick up the tab on a date even if the woman asked him out. If he doesn’t offer to help, you have to wonder if he’s generous and if he’s interested in seeing you again!
Tip: A man who allows a woman pay on the first date will expect her to pay on the second (and third).
WHAT WOULD THE COUNTESS DO?: PLANNING A FAMILY; SAYING NO
Fighting with your significant other in front of family/friends/guests — Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries had a bit of a tiff at their rehearsal dinner but kept it mostly behind the scenes. What do you think of people who fight with their significant other in front of people?
Disagreements with your significant other are a fact of life but airing your issues in public is a choice. Unless you are expecting input from the peanut gallery, it’s best to discuss your differences in private and at a time when you can both listen to each other. Remember that certain life events, however happy (like an impending wedding) can be stressful, so it’s best to keep your cool and count to ten before expressing your frustrations.
Tip: Why fight in public when you plan to make up in private?
