J.R. Martinez is taking his Dancing with the Stars mirror ball trophy on the road. He’s been invited to visit the Pentagon by none other than Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.
Panetta personally called Martinez on Friday with the invitation, a Pentagon spokesman confirmed.
Martinez was severely burned over 40 percent of his body while serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq in 2003. He’s since become an actor and a sought-after motivational speaker.

Details of his Pentagon visit haven’t yet been worked out but it’s expected Martinez will address thousands of active and retired troops while he’s in the D.C. area.
J.R. has already been announced as the Grand Marshal of the 2012 Rose Parade.
