Actor Peter Weller has joined the cast of Star Trek 2 for Paramount Pictures and director J.J. Abrams.
Character details weren’t released for Peter Weller‘s role. We reported last week that Alice Eve signed on to play a character created specifically for this sequel. We also reported last month that Benicio Del Toro has been offered the villain role in Star Trek 2, which some speculate is popular franchise heavy Kahn, a notion that has yet to be confirmed.
J.J. Abrams will direct Star Trek 2 from a screenplay by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Damon Lindelof. Bryan Burk is producing for Bad Robot and David Ellison is producing through Skydance Productions.
Production is scheduled to begin on January 15, 2012.
Star Trek 2 comes to theaters May 17th, 2013 and stars Zoe Saldana, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Anton Yelchin, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, John Cho, Alice Eve. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.
