Kristen Stewart discusses how “clumsy” she is at handling fame in the first interview published since she was caught cheating on boyfriend Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders.
Speaking to Vogue UK, the 22-year-old actress describes her struggles to deal with life in the spotlight, admitting, “I’m not that smooth.”
“People expect it to be easy because there you are, out there, doing the thing that you want and making lots of money out of it,” she said. “But, you know, I’m not that smooth. I can get clumsy around certain people.”
“Like if I were to sit down and think, ‘OK, I’m really famous, how am I going to conduct myself in public?’ I wouldn’t know who that person would be!” she continued. “It would be a lot easier if I could, but I can’t.”
Stewart — who donned a gorgeous floral-printed dress by Gucci for the Vogue UK cover — has kept relatively silent since the scandal first broke in July.
Pattinson, meanwhile, had to face the music a few weeks ago while promoting his new movie Cosmopolis. Among the highlights: endearing, yet slightly awkward, interviews on The Daily Show and Good Morning America, which you can watch here and here.
Later this year, Stewart will make two big-screen appearances, in On the Road and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part II.
The October issue of Vogue UK hits stands later this month.
