Hollywood is mourning the loss of Michael Clarke Duncan.
After suffering a massive heart attack almost two months ago, the Oscar-nominated actor passed away Monday at the age of 54. Duncan, who was engaged to Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, was best known for his role as the gentle giant on death row in the 1999 film The Green Mile. But the actor also starred in a range of films, from Armageddon to Talladega Nights and The Whole Nine Yards.
In a statement Monday, Duncan’s Green Mile costar, Tom Hanks, remembered his fallen friend. “I am terribly saddened at the loss of Big Mike,” he said. “He was the treasure we all discovered on the set of The Green Mile. He was magic. He was a big love of man and his passing leaves us stunned.”
Doug Hutchison, also a fellow castmember, told Celebuzz, “May Michael be dancing cheek to cheek with those angels up there in heaven.”
And the acclaimed film’s director, Frank Darabont, also shared his sentiments on the actor who stole his heart. “I’m devastated at the loss of Michael Clarke Duncan, one of the finest people I’ve ever had the privilege to work with or know,” he said. “Michael was the gentlest of souls – an exemplar of decency, integrity, and kindness. The sadness I feel is inexpressible.”
Now Tinseltown has taken to Twitter to pay tribute the late star.
