Jessica Simpson‘s post-baby weight has undoubtedly been in the spotlight since giving birth to her daughter, Maxwell Drew, in May. Now, the Fashion Star mentor is opening up about her struggle to shed the pounds.
“I set small goals for myself so that I could achieve them every week. That’s been great. I have lost weight every week, thank God. But I have worked really, really hard,” she told Katie Couric on her new talk show, Katie.
“I have to shoot a new season of my show Fashion Star. So, I want to be in all of the pretty dresses and the designer gowns. I am 10 pounds away from that. By the time I am shooting, I will be smaller.”
So how much weight has she lost since the birth of her first child?
According to the Hollywood mom, she’s shed over 40 pounds since signing on as Weight Watcher’s latest spokesperson.
“But it is not about the numbers,” she quipped. “I lost enough weight to where I can pat myself on the back.”
“I had to really stay focused and focus on my diet and just really concentrate on what I’m putting in my body.”
Simpson also admitted that she didn’t realize just how much weight she was putting on during her pregnancy.
“I didn’t really think about it. I thought my doctors were telling me that it was just a lot of water and whenever my water broke — you know — my entire stomach would go down,” she said, laughing.
For now, Simpson is now concertrating on being a mother to her newborn, even if it means putting aside her wedding preparations with fiance Eric Johnson.
“It won’t be this year,” Simpson revealed. “We haven’t had time [to plan]. Maxwell is definitely taking up all of our time.”
“I want to do a really big fun wedding with all of my friends and family,” she added.
