Uh oh. Are The Wanted being sore losers?
The British/Irish boy band made a mild dig at their teenaged rivals One Direction on the Radio One Breakfast Show on Monday.
After host Chris Moyles alleged that the “What Makes You Beautiful” crooners were the more successful boy band, having won three MTV Video Music Awards last week, Wanted singer Tom Parker replied, “Our new single ‘I Found You’ is a bit different. We like to mix it up. We try not to be stereotypical.”
While the band kept their digs to mere friendly banter, 1D fans may wage a social media war against The Wanted’s “Fan Family.”
How did One Direction strike back?
When One Direction ladies man Harry Styles heard about The Wanted’s accusation, he fired back on Twitter. He joked, “Chris Moyles’ is actually right though… If 1D aren’t in the picture, The Wanted would’ve been WAY more popular!”
The tweet has since been deleted, but the wound is still fresh for the fans. Of course, the friendly rivalry between the lads will surely heat up as both groups release their new singles.
The Wanted will officially release their new single “I Found You” in November. Meanwhile, One Direction’s new track, “Live While We’re Young” will drop Oct. 1, leading up to the release of their sophomore album Take Me Home on Nov. 13.
