TV Buzz: ‘The Voice’ Wins Monday Night; Justin Bieber Interviews With Ryan Seacrest on NBC

It’s no surprise that the return of NBC’s The Voice topped the ratings charts on Monday night. However, with only 12 million viewers, the reality competition’s premiere had it’s lowest ratings for a season opener yet, having dropped from 36 million viewers during its previous time slot premiere this past February. Pop star Justin Bieber sat down with Ryan Seacrest to talk pop stardom, his new book and what he has planned next for NBC News. Additionally, Bieber’s mother Pattie Malette also talks to Seacrest about her son as a child and parenting a pop star. Bieber’s interview airs Thursday on Today and Rock Center With Brian Williams. It’s official Katie Couric can officially put successful talk show host on her resume. Her show Katie tied for the best daytime premiere since the debut of Dr. Phil in September 2012. The episode, which featured Jessica Simpson and Sheryl Crow as guests, easily beat the recent talk show premieres of Steve Harvey, The Jeff Probst Show, The Ricki Lake show and the updated Anderson Cooper show, Anderson Live. Katie received a 2.8 household rating and was first or second in the top 15 US markets. [The Wrap]

Listen up! If you’re a fan of CBS’ Sunday night lineup including 60 Minutes, Big Brother, The Amazing Race, The Good Wife and The Mentalist and you live in the eastern or central time zone, your shows’ schedules are in for a change. On Sundays when the network is featuring back-to-back NFL football games, which can sometimes (okay often) run long, CBS will push back the lineup a half an hour. Those Sundays impacted by the change include Sept. 16 and 23; Oct. 7 and 21; Nov. 4 and 18 and Dec 2, 16 and 30. [TVLine]

Oprah’s Next Chapter is ranking in the top music guests. First, there was her conversation with Rihanna, then Jennifer Hudson and now this weekend Oprah Winfrey will travel to Atlanta for a talk with R&B superstar Usher.
