It’s been rough week for Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson, but a better one for his estranged wife Evelyn Lozada.
Not only was he charged with misdemeanor battery of Lozada on Wednesday, but his marriage is officially coming to an end after report on TMZ.
But Lozada couldn’t be happier about the new progress, Celebuzz has learned exclusively.
“Evelyn is very happy that [Chad] signed the divorce papers and is ready to move on with her life and put this behind her once and for all,” her rep told Celebuzz.
So what’s up next for Lozada?
Since the reported violent altercation, Lozada has told her story on Nightline and will appear on OWN’s premiere show Iyanla’s Fix My Life. Oprah appeared on Good Morning America this morning and said of the Basketball Wives star’s emotional interview: “People love to hate Evelyn Lozada… but they come away feeling something different after watching…”
Johnson’s filing follows on Thursday that of his soon-to-be ex-wife, who was the first to file divorce papers Aug. 14 following an alleged domestic violence incident in which the former NFL star head-butted her during an argument. They both stated in court papers that their marriage is “irretrievably broken,” according to the online report.
As a result of the fallout from the alleged attack, the newlyweds reality show Eve & Ocho was cancelled and Johnson was dropped from the Miami Dolphins.
The former Dancing with the Stars contestant not only tattooed his wife’s face on his leg, but has also apologized to her: “I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred,” he said in a statement on his official website.
