Nicki Minaj is following up her summer hit “Starships” with a girl power anthem called “The Boys.”
The track features R&B songstress Cassie, who is perhaps better known for her romance with Diddy. It’s the lead single from Minaj’s latest album, Pink Friday Roman Reloaded: The Re-Up.
Despite the track’s pop hook, courtesy of Cassie, ”The Boys” is a return to form for the New York diva. The rap asserts that boys are ”always spending all their money on love” — but that the gold chains won’t get Minaj and her girls to “turn around.”
What more can fans expect from The Re-Up?
A Twitter follower asked Minaj how many new tracks would be on the new album, to which she answered: “No less than 5, no more than 8.”
Minaj recently made headlines when she rapped a controversial verse on Lil Wayne’s latest mixtape, Dedication 4. “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy bitches is f***ing up the economy.”
Even President Obama weighed in on her “Mercy” freestyle from Lil Wayne’s 4 mixtape, which finally prompted the rapper to clarify that she will not vote for Mitt Romney.
It also gave her a little something to remember. “Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question,” she tweeted.
