The British royal family’s lawyers are ready to go to court on Monday.
St. James’s Palace has now confirmed that lawyers will seek an injunction in a Paris court against Mondadori, the media group behind French magazine Closer and Italian magazine Chi.
Hoping to follow the scandalous footsteps of Closer, Chi announced on Saturday that it too had plans to publish topless photos of Kate Middleton, taken from her recent vacation in France with husband Prince William. The publication claims to own some 200 images of the Duke and Duchess sunbathing.
“It is a story worth publishing in an extraordinary edition because it shows in a natural light the everyday life of a very famous contemporary young couple in love,” Chi editor-in-chief Alfonso Signorini said in a statement obtained by CNN on the weekend.
The palace did not comment on whether or not its lawyers will also take action against the Irish Daily Star, which published Closer’s photos in the paper’s Republic of Ireland edition on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess have kept calm and carried on with their Southeast Asia tour, visiting the Solomon Islands on Sunday.
The pair arrived in style — Middleton in a green-and-blue Jonathan Saunders dress and the prince in a navy blue suit — as locals, who gifted the royal couple with floral garlands, greeted them with a traditional dance.
Later in the visit, the Duchess changed into a gorgeous strapless pink dress while the Duke matched in a blue floral print shirt.
The Duke and Duchess’ tour of Southeast Asia is part of a celebration for Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee.
The day before, the pair paid a visit to a rainforest in Borneo, where they were fitted with harnesses and hoisted up a giant tree.
