With two of Ty Burrell’s co-stars on ABC’s Modern Family getting engaged recently, the Emmy-nominated actor says there is tons of excitement on set for Sofia Vergara and Jesse Tyler Ferguson and their respective relationships.
“We are a weird little family, so when anyone has anything good happen to them in their lives, we are all excited about it,” the star told Celebuzz Friday at Entertainment Weekly’s pre-Emmy part at Fig and Olive in Beverly Hills. So would he enjoy a double wedding?
“Fun,” says Burrel. “That would be fun. It’s efficient.”
With the actor again nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, he remarked, “I feel lucky to be here. Very lucky to be here.” Burrell, 45, won the trophy at the 2011 Emmy Awards for his hilarious portrayal of Phil Dunphy.
What is the star expecting on TV’s biggest night on Sunday?
More fun of course. “I think we have taken the opportunity in the last couple of years to just enjoy ourselves and appreciate that we’re employed.”
The Emmys are often a big night for the cast of Modern Family. In addition to Burrell’s win at last year’s ceremony, the show also won Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Supporting Actress, Outstanding Directing, and Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series in 2011.
In 2010, Eric Stonestreet who plays Cameron on the show scooped up the Outstanding Supporting Actor in A Comedy Series.
This year, the show is nominated for a whopping 14 nominations including a nod for each major cast member. In addition to Burrell, Ferguson, Stonestreet and Ed O’Neill are also nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor. Vergara and Julie Bowen are nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress.
