The Wanted Joke They’re Broke While One Direction Make Millions, Plus Max George Insults Louis Tomlinson

Are The Wanted jealous of One Direction’s millions?

The Wanted’s Jay McGuiness recently opened up about the band’s fortune — or lack thereof — with British personality Alan Carr. “We met our accountant the other day,” he said. “It was so depressing. It took him two hours to say: ‘Boys, you’re skint.’”

Meanwhile, One Direction has reportedly pocketed more than $160 million since their X Factor days two years ago. But The Wanted, who are managed by Justin Bieber mastermind Scooter Braun, seem to be putting their jealousy aside. In fact, Nathan Sykes told Carr, “We’re jumping on the bandwagon.”

The boy band was also eager to downplay their feud with the younger group. “It is hardly Blur vs. Oasis,” bandmate Tom Parker joked.

“I don’t think they have anything to be upset about, they are absolutely smashing it,” Max George added. Parker seemed to agree: “They are the biggest band in the world,” he said.

Then again, George was singing a different tune with MTV. The singer said he was confused by Louis Tomlinson‘s recent harsh remarks toward the rival boy band. The One Direction singer told the UK’s Now magazine, “If you want to create rivalry, then let’s do it.”

Tomlinson went on to tell the magazine when he first heard The Wanted’s single, “All Time Low,” in the UK, he thought it was a “great song by a great band.” However, once The Wanted hit it big in the U.S. with “Glad You Came,” things started to change among the two British pop bands, he said. And the wounds are still fresh for Tomlinson.

“It changed all of a sudden,” Tomlinson added. “There was one press story where they were bad-mouthing us. I thought maybe that had been twisted. But then there ended up being about 10 stories and they’ve been caught on camera doing little things.”

But The Wanted argue it’s Tomlinson who’s making a big deal out of nothing. “It seems to us at the moment that the only time we talk about One Direction is getting asked about comments they’ve made,” Sykes told MTV.

George then added: “That’s true actually. It’s quite boring now. To be fair, it’s Louis, though. It doesn’t seem to be any of the others… Louis seems to be the one who has a lot to say, for some reason. I don’t know what it is.”

Before ending the conversation, however, George took one final dig at Tomlinson. “Maybe he fancies one of us or something?”

Ouch. It doesn’t look like this boy band feud is going to resolve itself anytime soon.
