Justin Bieber on Selena Gomez Split: ‘I Don’t Know What’s Going On’

After nearly two years together, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez have parted ways — leaving the “Boyfriend” singer nearly speechless.

Just hours after the couple’s breakup hit headlines, a befuddled Bieber stumbled over his words as he addressed the reported split in a radio interview. “All right…. I don’t know what to say,” the singer said on the Open House Party radio show Saturday, neither confirming nor denying the couple’s breakup. “I don’t know what’s going on in my life. To even assess that it doesn’t make sense ’cause I have not made any comment.”

When he took to the stage at Boston’s TD Garden that night, the pop star performed Justin Timberlake’s famed break-up ballad, “Cry Me A River.”  Strumming an acoustic guitar with one of his bandmates, Bieber tore at heartstrings with JT’s woeful lyrics, inspired by Timberlake’s split from Britney Spears. “You told me you loved me, why did you leave me all alone,” Bieber sung. “Now you tell me you need me, when you call me on the phone.”

After the concert, Bieber tweeted: “thank u Boston. focused on the positive. #30MillionBeliebers with me. Im never leaving u because u r always there 4 me. love u. Night.”

Meanwhile, a glum Gomez stepped out post-split on Saturday at Los Angeles International Airport, where she jetted off to New York City for promotional duties. On Sunday, the former Wizards of Waverly Place star headed to Kmart in White Plans, N.Y., to greet fans and plug her Dream Out Loud line. Coincidentally, Bieber was also in New York — for his Believer tour concert at Barclays Center in Brooklyn Sunday evening.

Speculation of a Bieber-Gomez split reached fever pitch after he was spotted with Victoria’s Secret model Barbara Palvin. A day after Bieber performed at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, the two reportedly took in a Broadway performance of The Lion King with a group on Thursday night. After snap of Bieber with a friend and Palvin surfaced, Gomez tweeted the shot on her Twitter with just a set of ellipses.

But the Hungarian model, 19, denied any romance with the pop star. “hey everyone. please calm down. he is all yours!! 🙂 please :),” Palvin tweeted Saturday, adding the next day: “last time im saying it. please calm down. There is nothing going on w him.i met him and did a pic w him. wouldnt u do the same?:) #friendship.”

Bieber, 18, and Gomez, 20, first went public with their romance in February 2011, when they arrived arm-in-arm to the Vanity Fair Oscar party together, confirming months speculation that they were a couple.
