From 21 Jump Street, to Magic Mike and The Vow, Channing Tatum is in career best form.
Proving that, the 32-year-old has edged out of a cavalcade of big names — including Daniel Radcliffe, Hugh Jackman, Johnny Depp, Robert Pattinson and Ryan Reynolds — to be named GQ ”Movie Star of the Year.”
The actor, best known for his roles in Step Up and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, told the magazine that he’s taken career advice given to him by “very successful, smart actors” in order to make it in Tinseltown.
“They were like, ‘Grind it. If you love it, grind it.’ I did… and a lot of people who didn’t grind it, it’s not that they’re not in a good place, but I’m in a better place,” Tatum told the December Men of the Year issue, which hits newsstands nationwide on Nov 20.
But not every one of Tatum’s roles has been an action star. He confessed his reasoning behind taking on his role in The Vow, which co-starred Rachel McAdams.
“I did The Vow because I really love being in love,” he said. Tatum married actress Jenna Dewan in July of 2009 on the grounds of Church Estates Vineyards in Malibu, Calif.
Recently, Tatum took a break from filming Foxcatcher in Youngstown, Penn. to visit Dewan in Wilmington, North Carolina where she was on the set of the new TV series Witches of East End.
