ABC Cancels ‘Last Resort’ and ’666 Park Avenue’; CBS Cancels ‘Partners’

CBS’ The Big Bang Theory hit a series high in ratings last night with 17.4 million viewers. It also had a season high rating in the ad-coveted 18-49 demographic with a 5.5. rating. As a result, the rest of CBS’ Thursday lineup also hit season highs. ABC’s Last Resort, which has yet to be picked up for a full season, went down a tenth in the ratings with only 5.8 million viewers. [EW]

CBS’s freshman comedy Partners has been cancelled. The series, which starred Sophia Bush and Michael Urie will leave the air immediately with a repeat of Two and a Half Men airing in its place on Monday. The show hit a series-low with only 5.6 million viewers. [TVLine]

The cancelations keep rolling in and these are big losses in our opinion. ABC will be letting go of freshman dramas, Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue, after airing their full 13-episode order. Last Resort, which stars Andre Braugher, Scott Speedman and Daisy Betts, averaged 9.7 million viewers on Thursdays at 8 PM. 666 Park — which saw the return of Terry O’Quinn (Lost), Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives), Dave Annable (Brothers & Sisters) and Rachael Taylor (Charlie’s Angels) to ABC — averaged only 6.7 million viewers in its Sunday at 10 PM slot. There’s a new doctor in town on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. Entourage alum Constance Zimmer will come to Seattle Grace as Dr. Cahill. Zimmer’s role on the show will be recurring. She’ll first appear on the drama in late January. [TV Guide]

American Chopper is ending. After 10 years on the air, Discovery Channel has cancelled the “docusoap.” The series will end with a live special from Las Vegas on Dec. 11 with the previously announced four-way bike build-off special. [EW]

The 2011 Reelz miniseries, The Kennedys, is getting a sequel. Reelz is teaming up with Muse Entertainment to adapt best-selling book, After Camelot: A Personal History of the Kennedy Family 1968 to the Present by Randy Taraborelli. A date for the sequel’s premiere has not been set. The original miniseries, which features Katie Holmes as Jackie Kennedy, will air on Reelz twice on Thanksgiving day at 8 AM and 8 PM. [TVGuide]

Showtime’s Web Therapy has been picked up for Season 3. The Lisa Kudrow show will air 10 half-hour episodes next year. It will feature guest stars Matt LeBlanc, Meg Ryan and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. [THR]
