As the American Music Awards rings in its 40th anniversary on Sunday, the roster of live performers will include something for everybody.
From pop idol Justin Bieber to country darling Taylor Swift, from R&B superstar Usher to pop-punk band No Doubt, the star-studded line-up promises to showcase a wide range of musical acts.
“The AMAs reflects pop culture, which is all forms of music, all genres, pop, rock, country, hip hop, alternative … all these things that normally don’t [go] together,” producer Larry Klein told Reuters. “It’s our job to make it flow.”
Country singer Carrie Underwood, raptress Nicki Minaj, alternative rockers Linkin Park, punk-pop singer Pink, American Idol alum Kelly Clarkson and Korean pop sensation Psy only add to the star power of the performances. Even music industry icon Stevie Wonder will play in tribute to the late Dick Clark, who founded the AMAs 40 years ago.
With so many chart-toppers on deck, which musicians will shine the brightest? As the countdown begins to the big show at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre, Celebuzz is breaking down some of the most-anticipated acts of the AMAs.
