2012 was another big year for the Kardashian family.
The keyword this year was “new.”
From a new relationship between Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, to Khloe Kardashian’s gig on FOX’s The X Factor, to her husband Lamar Odom’s new NBA team and the birth of Kourtney Kardashian’s baby girl, Penelope, one of television’s most famous families welcomed all sorts of changes.
As the year draws to a close, Celebuzz is taking a look back at some of the biggest moments experienced by the Kardashians.
Here they are, in no particular order.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s relationship blossoms (March)
Following a long and highly publicized year of marriage and split from Kris Humphries, Kardashian turned a new leaf in 2012. In March, the 32-year-old began dating longtime friend Kanye West. Since then, the couple have been inseparable, traveling around the world for each other’s professional obligations, as well as taking time to take in the sights of Paris, Rome and stateside in Miami.
“I don’t know why it took so long for us to get together,” Kardashian told MTV in June. “But I think I needed to go through all my experiences and some that he’s gone through.”
Kylie and Kendall Jenner walk the runway at New York Fashion Week (September)
At 15 and 17 years old, Kylie and Kendall Jenner have been growing up fast before our very eyes, on and off the small screen. In September, the girls took to the runway during New York Fashion Week, walking for the Sherri Hill and Abbey Dawn shows.
Kris Jenner reveals revealing Wonder Woman costume for Halloween (October)
Kris Jenner made everyone do a double take in October when the 57-year-old revealed her Wonder Woman costume. The problem? The ensemble showed a bit too much of Jenner, and one of her daughters decided to have some fun with it on Twitter.
“Hi nips. That’s my mom,” Khloe tweeted.
Khloe Kardashian lands X Factor gig as co-host with Mario Lopez (October)
After weeks of speculation, Khloe Kardashian was finally confirmed as the new co-host for The X Factor live shows, along with EXTRA’s Mario Lopez. Since her debut more than one month ago, the 28-year-old continued to dazzle week after week on stage, even drawing famous viewers like her sister Kim and boyfriend Kanye West.
Welcome baby Penelope! (July)
Some two months after giving birth to her second child, Kourtney Kardashian, along with beau Scott Disick, shared her experience with the rest of the world on the season finale of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
“It’s such a magical feeling to say hello to my baby girl,” Kourtney said moments after welcoming her new bundle of joy, Penelope.
Kim Kardashian goes blonde (March, September)
In March, Kim donned a platinum blonde wig when she stepped out in Los Angeles, later admitting that she in fact missed her blonde hair. Six months later, the reality TV star showed off her lighter locks after paying a visit to the salon.
“Needed a change!” she wrote on Twitter at the time. (Since then, Kardashian has gone back to her natural dark brunette look).
Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian take London (November)
The Kardashian sisters brought their Kardashian Kollection line to London, partnering with high street fashion retailer Dorothy Perkins. The launch drew millions of Kardashian fans to launch events, including a mall meet-and-greet at London’s Westfield Shopping Centre.
“We can’t believe how many incredible fans are waiting outside (several thousand!),” Khloe wrote on her personal blog, adding that a contingency plan had been executed for those who lined up overnight in the parking lot.
Lamar Odom returns to Los Angeles . . . to play for the Clippers (June)
After a brief time in Dallas, Khloe’s hubby Lamar Odom was involved in a four-team trade that returned him to the west coast, and the city of Los Angeles. Since becoming a Clipper, Odom’s wife has been frequently spotted courtside watching the team in action.
Kim Kardashian gets flour bombed (March)
While promoting her new fragrance, Kim was flour bombed by a woman who somehow made her way through the press line on the red carpet. The woman, rumored to be part of the animal rights group PETA, was late detained by cops and released without charge.
“That probably is the craziest, unexpected, weird thing that ever happened to me. Like I said to my makeup artist, I wanted more powder and that’s a whole lot of translucent powder right there,” Kardashian told E! with a laugh immediately following the incident.
Kourtney and Kim Kardashian move to Miami for new spinoff (September)
After a two-year hiatus, Kourtney and Kim Kardashian re-launched their spinoff series and began production on Kourtney and Kim Take Miami in September. The sisters, along with Kourtney’s boyfriend Scott and their children Mason and Penelope, have been frequently spotted soaking up the sun at the beach, out for dinner, shopping trips and every day errands, along with a camera crew in tow.
On Nov. 19, the sisters were honored with keys to North Miami.
The Jenners and Kardashians face off in dragon boating race in Miami (September)
While it was a friendly competition, some members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan brought out their competitive side when they took part in a dragon boat race in Miami, Fla.
“Going for the gold,” Kylie wrote on Twitter, as her sister Kim echoed with “Ready to row #teamDASH,” referencing her team name.
In the end, Team Jenner, made up of Bruce Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, came out on top.
Kim Kardashian visits the Middle East (December)
Kim caused quite a frenzy during her three-day trip to the Middle East this month. The reality TV star was on hand to promote Millions of Milkshakes openings in the region, which included a stopover in Bahrain.
