30 Days of Giving & Receiving: Jill Zarin Is Home for the Holidays

Celebuzz continues our Christmas countdown with a special holiday guide from former star of the Real Housewives of New York City, Jill Zarin for our 30 Days of Giving & Receiving.

Being the New York ambassador that she is, television personality and entrepreneur, Zarin, says that there is nothing like NYC during the holidays.

“From the best shows, stores and activities, there are numerous things you can do around the city to take in the New York spirit,” she tells us.

Whether you’re a local or just visiting, check out Zarin’s five favorite New York holiday moments – where to go – what to do and what to see.

1/ Go to a Broadway Show on New Year’s Eve (Matinee):
“If I am in NYC during the holidays…this is a great way to see Times Square BEFORE the madness and feel part of it. Get out of the area before 4 pm,” says Zarin.

HINT: “Have lunch at the Marriott Marquis on the 7th floor for a perfect view of all the New Year’s Eve set up activities.”

2/ Saks Fifth Avenue/Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree:
“Visit after December 7th – that is around the time the tree gets lit up. If you’re lucky, you might catch a pre-tape concert for New Year’s Eve. I did! A few years ago we were driving down 5th Avenue at 8 pm around Dec 15th and Katy Perry was pre-taping her hit song in front of 100 people wearing New Year’s Eve hats and noisemakers. We had the best time.”

“Saks Fifth Avenue has everything you need for presents – it’s a one stop shop. Check out their personal shoppers if you need help.”

3/Central Park on New Year’s Eve:

“Most people don’t know this but there are fireworks there on NYE! We can see them from our apartment. Last year Bobby [Zarin] and I stayed home and cuddled in bed watching Ryan Seacrest and fireworks in Central Park.”

4/ Lace Up a Pair of Ice Skates:
If you like to ice skate like I do, Central Park and Rockefeller Center are my favorites. Grab a hot cocoa on me.”

5/ Get Tickets to See “The Nutcracker”:
“When Ally was little, my sister Lisa Wexler and I took our girls, Ally and Joanna to see “The Nutcracker” Ballet at the NY State Theater. If you grow up and only know one ballet…this is it! Add Radio City Music Hall’s “Christmas Show” to your list of MUST-SEE’s before you die!”
