HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jessica Simpson is returning to reality TV.
The 28-year-old Simpson will star in the new VH1 series, “The Price of Beauty,” in which she’ll travel around the world as she examines the meaning of true beauty in different cultures.
The pop star’s adventures will feature discussions with women as she studies local fashions, dietary fads and beauty regimes. Simpson, who has seen her own body scrutinized by the public, said she was “immediately intrigued” by the show’s concept.
“I have always believed that beauty comes from within and confidence will always make a woman beautiful, but I know how much pressure some women put on themselves to look perfect,” said Simpson in a statement.
“I am really looking forward to discovering how beauty is perceived in different cultures and participating in some of the crazy things people do to feel beautiful,” she continued. “I know we will all learn a lot on this journey and I am so excited that VH1 is coming along on what I’m sure will be a wild ride.”
Simpson previously starred with her ex-husband, singer Nick Lachey, on the MTV reality hit “Newlyweds.”
Her new show is slated to premiere in 2010.
