The pair will be joining forces in “The Beaver,” a movie about a depressed man (Gibson) who wears a beaver puppet on his hand as a means of finding joy, according to Variety.

Foster will star as Gibson’s wife, while also handling directorial duties.

Gibson, 53, and Foster, 46, previously teamed up for the 1994 cowboy comedy “Maverick.”

Steve Carell and Jim Carrey were among the stars previously eyeing “Beaver,” which topped the Blacklist for leading scripts in December.

The movie will mark Foster’s first directing turn since 1995’s “Home for the Holidays.” She was also at the helm of “Little Man Tate” in 1991.

Foster last starred on the big screen in 2008’s “Nim’s Island.”

At one point, Gibson was one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, but his career has stalled for the most part after several controversies, including a DUI conviction and his use of anti-Semitic slurs.

In April, Gibson’s wife, Robyn Moore, filed for divorce from the actor after nearly 30 years of marriage. One month later, he revealed that his girlfriend, Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva, was pregnant with the couple’s first child.
