HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Michelle Stafford will soon be taking on a new role in life.
The 43-year-old soap star has revealed that she is expecting her first baby via a surrogate mother. Stafford told People on Tuesday that turned to a surrogate after several unsuccessful fertility treatments and surgeries.
“After a three-year journey through hell, I’m elated, ecstatic and feel ultimately lucky to be able to announce I’m expecting my own child via surrogate in December,” she told the mag in a statement.
“I never wavered in my desire to be a mother,” continued Stafford, who is expecting a girl. “But I did waiver on aspects of the process. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
The “Young and the Restless” actress plans to be in the delivery room when her daughter arrives.
The single Stafford also said that becoming a mother will bring about some changes to her dating life.
“Dating men and telling them I’m expecting in December is a little different,” she said. “I know I just need to find someone who wants the same things as I do.”
