PARIS — Lindsay Lohan delivered on bringing the buzz when she debuted her fashion collection Sunday in Paris.
Her showing at the Louvre museum featured super-short pink dresses and blazers worn over bare skin, but her bigger contribution was probably measured in the number of media credentials handed out.
The 23-year-old actress joined forces last month with Emanuel Ungaro, which brought her onboard as an “artistic advisor” to work alongside Spanish designer Estrella Archs.
“We both love fashion, the different aspects, different generations, different styles from around the world, we like to mix everything up,” Lohan told reporters backstage in a joint interview with Archs.
The couture house has been around since 1965, but has struggled in recent years after losing its founding couturier to retirement. Hence the move to kick-start the French clothing brand’s image.
“Everything we’re going to get is going to be a plus. I think the noise level around Lindsay will be very, very big.” Ungaro’s chief executive officer, Mounir Moufarrige, told WWD last month.
For her part, Lohan vowed to pour her heart and soul into the brand, while taking Ungaro to a “younger place” with an edge. Some came away rather unimpressed by the “Mean Girl” star’s initial collection, which included heart-shaped pasties.
“The best that can be said is that they tried,” Daily Telegraph fashion director Hilary Alexander told Reuters.
