CLEARWATER, Fla. — Nick Hogan was released from prison early Tuesday in Florida after spending five months behind bars, Access Hollywood has confirmed.
Hogan, whose real name is Nick Bollea, was sentenced to eight months in Pinellas County Jail after pleading no contest to felony reckless driving in May. The charge stemmed from an August 2007 crash in which the 18-year-old Hogan’s friend, John Graziano, was seriously injured.
Upon his early release for good behavior, Hogan was met by his sister, Brooke.
Hogan will have plenty to deal with now that he’s back free. His parents, former wrestler Hulk Hogan and wife Linda, are in the middle of a bitter divorce battle. In addition, the Graziano family is pressing forward with a lawsuit as a result of the crash, in which their son was left paralyzed.
Linda Hogan issued a statement to Access, asking for the media to respect the family’s privacy.
“This is our time as a family to come together to support Nick’s adjustment back into the public life keeping it as normal as possible. Neither Nick, nor we as a family, has any interest in making this anything but private. We respect the media’s role and only ask that they respect our privacy,” read the statement.
“Nick went into prison as a juvenile and has experienced something that will mold and affect him for the rest of his adult life,” she continued. “His focus is to make a positive difference in this world, media free. Since his future actions will speak louder than any words, there is no need to speak to the media at this time.”
