Berry, 47, will play an astronaut who tries to reconnect with her husband and son after coming home from a year-long solo mission in space. The twist? Her experiences in both space and home will lead to events that will change the course of human history.
Adds Spielberg: “There’s only one Halle Berry and we are incredibly honored that she has chosen Extant to expand her illustrious career . . . as she does with everything she touches, she will bring a deep authenticity to her role and I very much look forward to working with her.”
Berry’s previous TV gigs include small roles on shows in the early ‘90s, including Knots Landing and A Different World, and made-for-TV films like Their Eyes Were Watching God and Introducing Dorothy Dandridge.
The star, who is pregnant with her second child, can next be seen on the big screen in X-Men: Days of Future Past, due May 2014.
