HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Chef Paula Deen was accidentally hit in the face with a ham Monday during a charity event in Atlanta.
The Emmy Award-winning television personality was struck as workers were unloading a truck full of hams and turkeys in an effort to deliver more than 25,000 lbs. of protein to the charity Hosea Feed the Hungry. Unfortunately, one errant ham toss wound up hitting Deen squarely in the face.
“I think it might have hit maybe just right where, I thought it busted my lip, but it didn’t,” the 62-year-old Savannah native told CBSAtlanta.com.
Deen had some pain around her nose, but she still managed to make light of her injury.
“You have to be able to laugh, otherwise I’d be in a loony bin,” she said.
