HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Cate Blanchett may be living in a male-dominated household, but the Oscar-winning star isn’t about to complain.
“Having boys is great,” the actress, who has three sons – Dashiell, 7, Roman, 5 and Ignatius, 19 months – with her playwright husband Andrew Upton, tells People. “It’s a neat position to be in and I love the high energy that comes along in raising boys. It’s fun.”
Also surprisingly fun for the 40-year-old star is getting down and dirty with her daily chores around the house.
“I enjoy vacuuming,” confesses Blanchett, who brings her role of Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire to the Brooklyn Academy of Music starting Nov. 27. “It’s a very satisfying noise when you hear all that grit sucked up from the floor and into the machine.”
“Vacuuming is a big one for me and it’s those simple things that keep my life grounded,” she adds. “It can be quite therapeutic!”
