Video: White House Party Crashers Michaele and Tareq Salahi on ‘Today Show’

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Michaele and Tareq Salahi, the now infamous couple accused of crashing the Obamas’ Nov. 24 State Dinner, are speaking out for the first time, insisting they are not a bunch of party crashers as they’ve been portrayed in the media.

“We were invited, not crashers,” explained Michaele during an interview on Tuesday’s Today Show. “There isn’t anyone that would have the audacity or the poor behavior to do that … certainly not us.”

“We are cooperating extensively with the U.S. Secret Service on their internal review and investigation,” added Tareq, who noted that the couple has turned over proof they were invited guests. “The truth will come out.”

But not everyone is buying the couple’s story.

“They were not on a list here at the White House,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told Today co-host Meredith Vieira. “They’d been told on a number of occasions that they did not have tickets for that dinner.”
