HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The Los Angeles County Coroner has released Brittany Murphy’s death certificate, nine days after the actress died unexpectedly at the age of 32.
As expected, Murphy’s cause of death is listed as “deferred,” according to the document obtained by E! News. An autopsy on the Clueless star’s body was completed last week, but her official cause of death is pending the receipt of additional toxicological tests and tissue studies that have been ordered by the deputy medical examiner. Those test results will likely take at least four to six weeks.
One surprising detail on the death certificate is Murphy’s father is listed as “unknown.” Her estranged father, Angelo Bertolotti, recently admitted to E! that he hadn’t spoken to his daughter in more than a year. He also revealed that he wouldn’t be attending her Christmas Eve funeral.
“If I wanted to go, I would go, but I don’t want to see her that way,” said the 83-year-old Florida resident. “She was flawless to me. She was a little bright child. I have only good memories about her. She’s a memory to me now. To me she’s off making a movie somewhere.”
