Sade Debuts ‘Soldier of Love’ Video

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Sade debuted her long-awaited “Soldier of Love” music video on Monday, the first new material from the Grammy Award-winning English singer in more than a decade.

“Soldier of Love,” the first single off Sade’s forthcoming album, made its worldwide video debut on Amazon.com. The video, directed by Sophie Muller, utilizes powerful yet dreamlike imagery with militant style dancing that coincides with the martial drums pulsating throughout the song. Channeling a futuristic wild-wild-west battleground coupled with her smooth, seductive voice, the video creates an intriguing contrast that captures the ultimate struggle and purpose to find love.

“Soldier of Love” which Sade co-produced with Mike Pela, was written by Sade along with longtime collaborators Andrew Hale, Stuart Matthewman and Paul Spencer Denman. Recorded in England and set for release on February 9th, Soldier of Love marks Sade’s first official studio album since the multi-platinum release of Lovers Rock in 2000.

Since the release of her debut album, 1984’s Diamond Life, Sade has seen all five of her studio albums land in the Top 10 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart, with more than 50 million albums sold worldwide to date.
