This morning E! News host and reality star Giuliana Rancic made a shocking announcement. On Today the vivacious personality revealed that she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Guiliana indicated that during a recent discussion to undergo IVF to get pregnant, a doctor told her to get a mammogram before he proceeded. As indicated by Celebuzz, Giuliana told Today’s co-host Ann Curry that she didn’t think about it until she was at least 40. The 36 year-old got the mammogram anyway since the doctor said it had to be done before they moved forward with baby plans.
Choking back tears, Giuliana said, “Through my attempt to get pregnant…we sadly found out that I have early stages of breast cancer. It’s been a shock.”

She added, “Don’t feel sorry for me, just instead call your doctor tomorrow and make an appointment. I will be OK because I found it early.”
In an odd twist of fate, the typically cheerful host said this was actually a blessing and sign which explained why she has been having difficulties getting pregnant. “I’m not going to give up, and the reasoning is that this baby saved my life….Now I truly believe that God was looking out for me. Even when I would ask him…’Why can’t you given me a baby,’ now I know he was actually looking out for me,” she said, and indicated that pregnancy can sometimes speed up the cancer process.

As for next steps, Giuliana will have surgery this week and then undergo radiation for about six weeks to combat the cancer in its early stage.
