HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Tito Ortiz claims he was arrested on Monday after he confronted live-in girlfriend Jenna Jameson about her addiction to Oxycontin.
"For Tito and her family this has been an uphill battle," his lawyer, Chip Matthews, told reporters at a news conference held late Monday. "Unfortunately this morning she had a relapse. Tito was trying to help her. She has threatened suicide before. Tito has done everything in his power to protect her privacy and the privacy of their children."
"When you’re dealing with people on Oxycontin they don’t always have the best sense of balance," Matthews continued. "Jenna and Tito have [13-month-old twins sons] together. They planned on spending the rest of their lives together. They want nothing more than to work together on this."
The mixed marital arts fighter was arrested for felony domestic violence after police were called to the couple’s home in Huntington Beach, Calif. around 9:53 a.m. Ortiz, who was later released from jail after posting $25,000 bail, vowed to help Jameson for the sake of their family.
"My parents have been through an addiction and I see it in the mirror again," said Ortiz, who wept openly at the press conference. "I am not going to let my family go through that. I speak from my heart, I hold everything dear to my heart that Jenna will be OK."
