The PEOPLE StyleWatch team couldn’t be happier about this year’s Most Beautiful Woman choice. After all, we’ve been writing love notes to Lupita Nyong’o since she came on the scene last fall. She looks amazing in anything she wears (her arms inspire us to do pushups), she looks fabulous in any kind of makeup and she’s got a genuine joy and enthusiasm that makes her absolutely radiant.

So since we feel like we kinda called her big win (work with us here), we got to go behind the scenes of her stunning photoshoot. We got to see the dozens of dresses, jewels and shoes she tried on for a few killer shots for the magazine. She wore everything from a Michael Kors gray turtleneck sweater and Marchesa shorts to a Cartier vintage emerald necklace — as you can see, she had no shortage of jaw-dropping designer styles to try. The actress posed for photographer Alexis Lubomirski at N.Y.C.’s Plaza Hotel, with her hair done by Ted Gibson, makeup by Nick Barose, manicure by Casey Herman and styled by Katie Mossman.
