HENDERSON, Nev. — LPGA Tour player Erica Blasberg was found dead Sunday at her home in Henderson, Nev. She was 25.
Blasberg’s death was confirmed Monday by her agent, Chase Callahan.
"We are devastated to learn of the passing of Erica Blasberg," Callahan said in a statement. "To most of the world, Erica was known as a professional golfer, but she was more than that. She was a loving daughter to her parents and a compassionate and loyal friend. Erica had a good heart, was extremely kind and very thankful for what she had in her life. This is a painful loss, we feel it in our hearts and we will miss her."
A police investigation into Blasberg’s death is ongoing, with officials saying it could be weeks before an official cause is known.
Her death was first revealed by fellow LPGA player Maria Hjorth on Twitter.
"So saddened to hear that Erica Blasberg passed away yesterday," wrote Hjorth. "She was such a good player and a great person. She will be missed!"
The Southern California native last played two weeks ago at the Tres Marias Championship where she finished 44th in her only start on the LPGA Tour this year.
Blasberg joined the LPGA Tour in 2005 after playing two seasons at the University of Arizona, where she won NCAA Freshman of the Year.
