HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Matt Lauer is slamming a tabloid report that claims his marriage is on the rocks due to a "cheating scandal."
This week’s National Enquirer cover story claims the NBC morning show host has left his wife, model Annette Roque, after 12 years of marriage – an allegation Lauer calls "a work of fiction."
"I am living in my apartment with Annette and my children as a family and a couple," he told People. "I have never moved out. I am not moving out. There is no truth to that."
"Out of self respect, I want to stand up for our family and protect them," added Rogue.
Back in 2006, the Dutch beauty filed for divorce only to later reconcile with her husband, who admits the couple’s marriage hasn’t always been smooth sailing.
"Have we had a completely perfect, easy marriage? No. But the stories you’ve read over the years are not true," Lauer, 52, told the mag.
"I don’t think we’re any different than any married couple that’s been together for 12 years," he added. "The accusations [of infidelity] are ridiculous and I’m not going to [dignify] them with an answer. It’s not true."
Lauer and Rogue have three children – Jack, 8, Romy, 6 and Thijs, 2.
