By order of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II (reportedly, according to the Mail on Sunday), it has been declared that the Duchess of Cambridge must appear fancier during her Australian tour this April.
While Catherine’s sundresses and high hemlines were adorable the first few times around, the Queen allegedly wants the future consort to step up her game. This means, per the story, that Catherine will travel to Australia and New Zealand with couture pieces, as well as a chest full of jewels and tiaras, most on loan from Her Majesty.
The Queen has selected her personal dresser, Angela Kelly to assist Catherine in selecting jewelry for the month-long trip.
“Angela has been asked to start selecting jewels ahead of the trip,” a palace source told the Mail. ”She knows most of the pieces in the Queen’s private collection. Her understanding is crucial because this trip will be about Kate appearing more Royal than ever – you can expect to see a lot more tiaras and the Queen will be watching closely.”
While Catherine did not take a personal dresser with her on previous tours, one is expected to join the Duchess in April.
“We take for granted how good she looks but it’s a lot of work,” David Emanuel, who co-designed Princess Diana‘s wedding gown, told the Mail. You need to think about the national colours of the country, its flag and emblems and how to reflect that in the clothes you wear.
“It takes weeks of research and Kate is going to need quality couture for the trip.”
