HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Kellie Pickler has hit another high note. The American Idol alum is now engaged to boyfriend Kyle Jacobs.
"Kyle took away all my fear of marriage and has shown me the way love is supposed to be," the 23-year-old singer tells People of her future husband, whom she met through friends about 2½ years ago.
Jacobs, a songwriter, proposed on June 15 as the couple strolled a Florida beach at sunset. The date has a special meaning to Pickler, as it is the birthday of her late grandmother, who raised the singer after her mother left and her father went to jail.
"It turned out to be the most amazing day of my life," she told the mag. "My whole world changed. We both feel like we got my grandmother’s blessing."
Added Pickler: "I remember saying to Kyle, ‘Baby it’s like I’m dreaming – but if this isn’t real, I’m going to be very upset!’ "
