HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Cristiano Ronaldo’s newborn son is a junior!
The Portuguese soccer star’s family tells Expresso that the baby, born on June 17, is named Cristiano Jr. He reportedly weighed 9 pounds, 8 ounces, and measured 21 inches at birth.
Ronaldo, 25, announced the arrival of his first child in a message posted Saturday on his Facebook and Twitter pages.
"It is with great joy and emotion that I inform I have recently become father to a baby boy," the Team Portugal player and Emporio Armani underwear model said.
Ronaldo did not reveal the identity of the baby’s mother, only saying that he would raise the child alone.
"As agreed with the baby’s mother, who prefers to have her identity kept confidential, my son will be under my exclusive guardianship," he wrote. "No further information will be provided on this subject and I request everyone to fully respect my right to privacy (and that of the child) at least on issues as personal as these are."
Ronaldo and his girlfriend, Russian model Irina Shayk, have been vacationing in New York.
