NEW YORK — Already a massive star in her native U.K., singer and actress Pixie Lott will bring her soulful pop sound to the U.S. this week.
"Boys and Girls," the 19-year-old Lott’s second consecutive No. 1 single in the U.K., will be released digitally in the U.S. tomorrow. The song follows her blockbuster debut "Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh)," which entered both the iTunes and U.K. Singles charts at No. 1 after its video racked up more than three million views on YouTube in June 2009.
The track is off Lott’s debut album, Turn It Up, which will be released in the U.S. in early 2011.
In addition to topping the charts, Lott has a busy acting career. She stars alongside Lucas Cruikshank in the feature film Fred: The Movie, based on the popular YouTube videos, premiering Sept. 17 on Nickelodeon. She has also been cast alongside Bette Midler, Adrien Brody and Sharon Stone in the film Sweet Baby Jesus — a ’70s flashback comedy from writer Steve Blair and directed by Peter Hewitt.
