HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Spencer Pratt has apologized to Heidi Montag for his actions since the couple’s marriage ended earlier this year.
"Divorce can be a trying, draining, and emotionally devastating experience for all involved," the 27-year-old reality star told People. "Despite these hardships, most individuals manage to conduct themselves with dignity and maturity. I did not – I failed spectacularly."
Since the divorce filing, Pratt has threatened to release several sex tapes he claims to possess with Montag in a starring role. He has also discussed writing a tell-all book about their relationship.
"Over the years, her love, support, and friendship were always given, but never properly cherished. I let her down," he told the mag. "She never deserved the pain and anguish I put her through, and although I don’t expect it, I hope in time she’ll be able to forgive me.
"Even though our relationship has changed, I will always count her among my best friends."
Montag filed for divorce in July, less than two months after she sought a legal separation from Pratt. The twosome tied the knot in April 2009 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Pasadena, Calif.
