Giuliana Rancic made an emotional announcement on the Today show Monday morning that she is battling breast cancer and Monday night she opened up to her good friend and co-worker Ryan Seacrest on E! News about how she’s coping.

With the support of her husband Bill Rancic, Giuliana revealed on Today early Monday morning that she will undergo a lumpectomy and radiation therapy after she discovered she has breast cancer while getting a mammogram.
Giuliana spoke to Ryan from New York via satellite later that night about how her decision to go public was “a difficult one” for her.
“I feel like such a heavy weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” she told Ryan last night on E! News. “I’ve been keeping this secret from a lot of dear friends for a while now and it’s nice to get it out there and not hide anymore.”

“There was a long period of time where I thought I was going to hide this from everyone, that I didn’t need to tell anyone,” Giuliana explained. “And then as time went by, I would see friends of mine that didn’t know, and I would think, ‘God, I wish I could let her know what I’m going through,’ so that she goes and gets checked.”
But the E! host want her story to help inspire and educate other women.
“So that’s my situation. I’m going to survive, I’m going to be just fine, I’m not broken, but that’s because I found it early.”
