Angelina Jolie is not letting a red carpet prank affect how she works the red carpet.
“People like that are an exception to the rule,” Jolie told the Associated Press this week, referring to the Ukrainian ex-reporter who attacked Brad Pitt at a Los Angeles premiere on May 28.
“Most fans are just wonderful. We’ve had a wonderful experience over the years, and we’re very grateful for their support, and it will not change the way we behave.”
Jolie’s comments come one day after Pitt released his own statement on the incident.
“I don’t mind an exhibitionist,” Pitt told PEOPLE, “but if this guy keeps it up he’s going to spoil it for the fans who have waited up all night for an autograph or a selfie, because it will make people more wary to approach a crowd. And he should know, if he tries to look up a woman’s dress again, he’s going to get stomped.”
The ex-reporter, Vitalii Sediuk, jumped the 50-year-old actor at the L.A. premiere of Maleficent last week. Sediuk spent two days in jail before being sentenced to three years of probation and one year of psychiatric counseling.
Jolie, 38, is currently in Shanghai promoting Maleficent. The film enjoyed a strong opening weekend in North America, grossing nearly $70 million at the box office.
